About the course

This entry-level Certificate III is designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners, including high school students and adults, to build skills for education support work. You’ll learn to help plan and support educational programs, engage respectfully with young people, and promote safe, supportive learning environments. The course also develops strategies and resources to support First Nations students and identity in education. The programme develops classroom assistance skills, child development knowledge, and educational support practice.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue education support roles such as a teaching assistant, supporting students and teachers in classroom and learning environments, with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education. The qualification can also support progression into further study pathways, including applying to continue into a Bachelor of Education at James Cook University.
