About the course
This post-trade Certificate II helps qualified electricians expand their electrical skill set and gain the practical knowledge to work with split air conditioning and heat pump systems. You’ll learn to design, quote and install reverse-cycle air conditioning, including positioning, assembling and commissioning single-head split units to prescribed routines. With support from industry-experienced teachers, completion supports eligibility to apply for the required licence for single-head split systems up to 18kW in electrical trades.
Career outcome
Graduates can broaden their electrical services into the growing split-system air conditioning market, supporting work on design, quoting, installation and commissioning of single-head split and reverse-cycle systems. Typical outcomes include operating as a split air conditioning and heat pump installer (subject to licensing requirements) or adding split-system installation services within an electrical contracting business to increase revenue opportunities.
