About the course

This entry-level Certificate II helps you start a career in civil construction. You’ll build practical skills for routine site tasks such as manual excavation, concreting, trench work, pipe laying and pothole repair, along with workplace communication, planning and organising, and safe work practices aligned to OHS procedures. With teacher support, graduates are prepared for work as a civil construction labourer/worker and a pathway into Certificate III–IV study in civil construction.

Career outcome

Graduates can seek entry-level work on civil construction projects, supporting crews with general labouring and basic construction activities. Typical duties include excavation support, concreting assistance, trenching, laying pipes, and minor road maintenance such as pothole repair, while following workplace safety and OHS procedures.
