About the course
This entry-level qualification introduces the fundamentals of modern farm work for people starting out in agriculture. You’ll build practical skills across livestock and crop activities, including mustering and moving animals, operating and maintaining machinery and equipment, and supporting breeding and care of young animals. The course also covers sustainability, cropping and general farm operations, and can provide a pathway into further study in agriculture and agribusiness. The programme develops laboratory safety, sample handling, and basic analytical techniques for technical roles.

Graduates can pursue entry-level roles supporting day-to-day operations on farms, stations and rural enterprises. Typical work includes assisting with animal care, basic livestock handling, routine machinery and equipment tasks, and general farm duties across cropping and mixed farming settings.
