About the course
This AQF Level 4 Certificate IV prepares you for technical production roles in live performance and creative arts environments. You’ll gain practical, industry-focused experience across key backstage areas such as lighting, sound, staging and production support, learning to solve unpredictable technical problems and work safely in team settings. The course is delivered through ECU’s WAAPA context and is suited to entry-level pathways in live production and technical services. The programme trains digital design tools, visual production, and portfolio development for creative workplaces.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue entry-level work supporting live events and performances across venues and production companies. Typical opportunities include roles assisting with lighting, audio, staging and bump-in/bump-out operations, as well as general technical crew work for theatre, music and events. Skills developed also support progression into further study or more specialised backstage pathways. This is a Certificate IV qualification focused on practical performing arts production and technical services.
