About the course
This Certificate IV develops skills for work as a surveying or spatial information services technician. You’ll learn to use surveying tools such as total stations and GNSS, and apply geospatial software to capture, process and present electronic data. Training also covers producing CAD drawings, survey plans and preparing GIS data, alongside safety, analytical thinking and sustainable work practices. This is a Certificate IV qualification in quantity and land surveying. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates may seek entry-level technician roles supporting surveying and spatial information projects. Typical work involves assisting with field data collection using surveying equipment, processing and managing spatial datasets, and preparing CAD drawings, survey plans and GIS outputs for reporting and mapping.
