About the course
This apprenticeship qualification develops the skills needed to work as a trade-qualified bricklayer or blocklayer across residential, commercial and industrial projects. Training covers core construction industry skills plus specialist bricklaying, blocklaying and paving work, including work on new builds and existing structures. Delivery and assessment are undertaken in a real or closely simulated workplace environment at Federation TAFE. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates can work in the construction industry as trade-qualified bricklayers, blocklayers or pavers, applying skills across residential and commercial building sites. Typical pathways include working as a qualified tradesperson, subcontractor or progressing into roles such as site supervisor or building contractor. With experience, graduates may move into self-employment and operate their own bricklaying or masonry business. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
Entry requirements
Must be employed as an apprentice bricklayer/blocklayer.
