About the course
This Certificate IV qualification prepares entry-level workers to support clients experiencing alcohol and other drug issues and to help deliver health promotion and community interventions. Training covers practical service delivery in settings such as community organisations, withdrawal and residential rehabilitation services, and outreach programs. Graduates work under the guidance of other practitioners within established parameters in the alcohol and other drugs community services field.
Career outcome
Graduates may work in alcohol and other drugs and broader community services roles supporting individuals, families and communities. Employment opportunities can include detoxification worker, drug and alcohol community support worker, drug and alcohol worker, community rehabilitation and support worker, family support worker, case worker (community services), mental health outreach worker, and general community services support roles in outreach, withdrawal and rehabilitation settings.
