About the course

The Graduate Certificate of Finance is a short postgraduate qualification that builds practical understanding of core finance principles and their application in real settings. Delivered in person, it allows students to develop finance capability through a focused selection of courses across areas such as valuation, investments, corporate finance, derivatives and fintech. Strong performers may be eligible to progress into related ANU master’s programs.

What you might learn

Students develop a stronger grasp of financial concepts and how to apply them to business and policy contexts. The program aims to build analytical capability to interpret and evaluate financial information, strengthen decision-making and management skills, and broaden applied knowledge through electives in specialised finance topics such as valuation, portfolio construction, markets, debt and financial intermediation.

Career outcome

Graduates can use the qualification to support roles requiring finance capability across the private and public sectors. Typical pathways include analyst and advisory work in corporate finance, investments and portfolio support, banking and financial markets, risk and treasury-related functions, and finance roles within government agencies or organisations needing financial analysis and reporting skills.

Entry requirements

Applicants need either a recognised Bachelor degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7.0, or at least 5 years of full-time equivalent relevant work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1. Applicants must also satisfy ANU English language requirements and are assessed competitively, so meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
