About the course
Designed for students with a first qualification in a discipline other than education, this course orientates you to the education discipline and provides you with an understanding of concepts and contemporary issues in education and of educational contexts and systems, locally and globally. You will have the opportunity to draw on a range of support mechanisms as you develop your knowledge and understanding of the major theoretical and professional debates in specialist areas within the field of education, and locate these within contemporary research.
Career outcome
These course outcomes are aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework level 8 and Monash Graduate Attributes. Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that students will be able to:1. acquire knowledge of foundational concepts and knowledge traditions in education2. develop an understanding of recent issues and debates in policy and practice in education3. apply critical perspectives in their evaluation of substantive and contemporary issues and ideas in education4.
