About the course
UTS’s Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice provides the mandatory practical legal training (PLT) needed for admission as a practising lawyer in NSW. You develop job-ready skills through core coursework and supervised practical experience, supported by learning from experienced practitioners and access to facilities such as moot and trial courts. This graduate certificate focuses on applied training for contemporary legal practice. The programme develops advanced legal analysis, professional practice skills, and specialist knowledge for complex legal and regulatory contexts.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared to complete the practical legal training requirements and progress toward admission to practise law in NSW. The course builds capability across areas such as property and commercial practice, litigation practice, and skills and wills, combined with practical placement experience. Career pathways include entry-level legal practice roles in law firms, government, courts/tribunals and in-house legal teams, as a professionally trained law graduate.
