This graduate certificate builds intercultural capability and an understanding of key global issues shaping societies across Asia, Africa and beyond. You’ll examine how power, culture, history, identity and sustainability intersect, and explore topics such as migration, popular culture, regional tensions and cooperation. Learning is problem-based and applied, developing communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills through real-world scenarios and policy-focused tasks.
What you might learn
You’ll learn to apply interdisciplinary perspectives from political science, sociology, history, geography and area studies to global and regional engagement. The course develops critical and creative thinking about contemporary global challenges, effective written and oral communication for diverse audiences, and the ability to engage responsibly across cultures. It emphasises navigating power, values and worldviews, respecting cultural difference including Indigenous knowledges, and applying these skills across professional contexts.
