About the course
The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing (online) expands registered nurses’ clinical knowledge and specialty practice skills. Students can study a general clinical nursing stream or choose a specialisation including cardiac care, intensive care, perioperative, renal, surgical, medical, neuroscience, gerontological or correctional health. The course strengthens evidence-based assessment, problem solving and person- and family-centred care, with applied study in bioscience, pharmacology and lifespan development for graduate-level nursing practice.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue advanced practice and leadership opportunities across government and private healthcare settings, aligned to their chosen specialty area. Possible pathways include clinical nurse specialist roles, nursing education positions, and clinical leadership or management in specialty units and broader health services. Specialisations support work in areas such as correctional health, aged care/gerontology, medical and surgical wards, neuroscience, cardiac and intensive care, renal/dialysis and perioperative theatre environments for graduate-level nursing careers.
