About the course
This Certificate III in Horticulture builds practical skills for work in gardens and landscaping, covering planning plant displays, propagation, pruning, plant identification and safe operation of machinery. Students learn in a hands-on environment near the Ballarat Botanical Gardens and wetlands, with on-campus classes and industry-focused training. This is a Certificate III qualification in horticulture. The programme develops laboratory safety, sample handling, and basic analytical techniques for technical roles.
Career outcome
Graduates can work across the horticulture sector performing a broad range of gardening and plant care tasks. Typical roles include gardener, horticulturist, greenkeeper, plant nursery worker and irrigation service technician, with pathways into arboriculture, landscaping and land rehabilitation support. This is a Certificate III qualification preparing you for horticulture roles. Preparing graduates for laboratory assistant, quality control, and science technician roles, or degree articulation.
Entry requirements
Apprentices will need to be employed with a signed agreement. There are no formal entry requirements for non-apprenticeship students.
