About the course
This TAFE qualification builds practical skills and knowledge for vocational roles in the amenity horticulture industry. You’ll learn to carry out a broad range of horticulture tasks under supervision, using discretion to select and operate equipment, coordinate resources, and apply contingency measures. Training emphasises safe work practices and environmental compliance. It is designed for general horticulture job roles rather than trade-level training in the AHC package. The programme develops laboratory safety, sample handling, and basic analytical techniques for technical roles.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue entry-level roles across amenity horticulture and nursery settings, supporting landscape and garden works under supervision. Typical opportunities include gardener, landscape construction worker, landscape maintenance worker, horticulturist, nursery production worker, production horticulturist (trade level support), and retail nursery roles. This Certificate III provides a practical vocational pathway into horticulture-related employment in community, commercial, and nursery environments.
