About the course
UNE’s Bachelor of Zoology is a specialist undergraduate degree focused on animal life across diverse habitats, from microbes to large mammals. You’ll build practical capability through hands-on laboratory and fieldwork and learn to think and work like a researcher. The course develops knowledge spanning animal biology, ecology and natural history, with links to areas such as behaviour, genetics and conservation in a Bachelor-level zoology discipline. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles supporting animal and wildlife research, conservation and environmental management across government, NGOs, consulting and education. Skills developed for field and laboratory work are relevant to biodiversity monitoring, ecological assessment and animal biology projects. The degree also provides a foundation for further study and research pathways in zoology and related biological sciences as a Bachelor-level qualification in the sciences.
