About the course
Zoology explores the diversity of animals and the biological processes that allow them to survive, thrive and persist. You’ll study animal form and function, behaviour, evolution and ecology, and consider how species interact with environments and respond to change. The major builds strong scientific and analytical skills with a focus on understanding and conserving animal life at undergraduate level in the sciences. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
Zoology graduates can pursue roles across wildlife and environmental sectors, including work with fisheries and aquaculture, resources and environmental consulting, and biodiversity management. Opportunities also exist in government departments and public agencies such as museums and zoos, as well as research organisations like CSIRO. The major also provides a strong foundation for further study and research-focused careers in zoological science at undergraduate level.
