About the course
Deakin’s Bachelor of Zoology and Animal Science explores how animals function, behave and adapt, and how human activity and climate change affect animals and ecosystems. You will build practical skills through lab and fieldwork with live animals and learn research methods to test real-world hypotheses. The course emphasises Australian fauna and includes an industry-related work placement to strengthen technical and transferable skills for a Bachelor-level career in zoology and animal science.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles across zoology, animal science and environmental sectors, applying skills in animal biology, ecology and conservation. Career pathways may include wildlife and conservation support roles, animal and environmental field officer positions, research or laboratory assistant roles, and work with government, NGOs, consultancies or education providers.
