About the course
Train as a fully qualified, internationally recognised veterinarian, combining scientific foundations with extensive practical experience. You’ll study animal anatomy, physiology, pathology and diagnostics, then progress to species-focused medicine and surgery plus public and population health. Across the 5 years you complete substantial placements and hands-on clinical training, including lecture-free final-year practice in university and private veterinary settings at UQ Gatton.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for professional veterinary practice across companion animal, equine and production animal contexts. Career pathways include roles in private clinics, referral hospitals and mixed practices, as well as work in animal health services, biosecurity and public health. Practical placements and intensive final-year clinical training support readiness for real-world case management as a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) graduate.
