About the course
This honours year is for high-performing students already enrolled in ECU’s Bachelor of Social Work and is offered by invitation. You’ll complete a substantial research thesis focused on rural, regional and remote social work practice, building advanced research and analytical capability. The course also meets Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards, providing an AQF Level 8 Bachelor Honours qualification in social work. The programme explores human behaviour, research methods, and applied psychology for community and organisational settings.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for professional social work practice with an added research focus, supporting work with communities and services in rural, regional and remote settings. The honours thesis strengthens skills in literature review, research design, data analysis and evidence-informed practice, which can be applied in government and community organisations, policy and program evaluation roles, and as preparation for further postgraduate research in social work. Preparing graduates for human resources support, community services, and psychology-related graduate pathways.
