About the course
This Bachelor of Science (Honours) - SMAH (Archaeology) at UOW develops advanced research and analytical skills through an in-depth honours project within archaeology. You’ll work closely with academic supervisors, strengthen academic writing and critical thinking, and gain experience designing, conducting and reporting independent research. The programme provides a focused pathway to higher degree research or specialised roles in science-related settings. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue roles where advanced research skills and archaeological expertise are valued, including cultural heritage and environmental consulting, archaeological field and laboratory work, museum and collections support, government and community heritage projects, and research assistance roles. The honours year also supports progression to postgraduate research (e.g., higher degrees by research) in archaeology and related scientific disciplines. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
