About the course
This one-year Bachelor of Science (Forensic and Analytical Science Pathway) is designed for students who want to study forensics but need to build prerequisite knowledge first. You’ll study foundational biology, chemistry and introductory forensic topics while developing laboratory and analytical skills and confidence. On completion, you can transition into the Bachelor of Science (Forensic and Analytical Science) or another science major at Flinders University. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
Although the pathway year is not a standalone qualification, it provides the scientific grounding and practical lab skills needed to progress into a full science degree leading to work in forensic and analytical fields. Graduates who continue into the bachelor degree may pursue roles such as forensic scientist, analytical chemist, crime scene investigator or laboratory technician across police and government labs, healthcare, environmental monitoring and private industry in science. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
