About the course

This Science First Year Stream groups related first-year science units that can be taken within eligible Curtin undergraduate degrees. It helps you build a broad science foundation and explore areas of interest before progressing into your chosen degree structure. You enrol in the stream via an approved bachelor program, not as a standalone award, supporting first-year study in Sciences at bachelor level. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.

Career outcome

This first-year stream supports pathways into science-focused Curtin bachelor degrees, building foundational knowledge and study skills that underpin later specialisation. Depending on the degree you continue into, it can lead toward careers across laboratories, field and environmental work, technical roles, data-led science, and further professional or postgraduate study. Outcomes vary by the bachelor program, but the stream prepares you for bachelor-level progression in Sciences. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
