This advanced honours chemistry degree is designed for high-achieving students aiming for a research-focused career. You’ll build strong foundations in analytical, physical, organic and inorganic chemistry, while exploring modern applications such as materials science, nanotechnology, spectroscopy and chemical synthesis. From first year you engage in authentic research environments and projects, supported by active QUT researchers, graduating with a Bachelor-level honours qualification in chemistry.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for research and development pathways in chemistry and related industries, with experience in laboratory practice and research projects. Career directions may include roles in analytical and industrial chemistry, materials and nanotechnology, environmental and food chemistry, and laboratory-based research in government, health, energy or advanced manufacturing. This Bachelor-level honours chemistry degree also provides a strong foundation for further research training and scientific leadership.
