About the course
This program builds practical and theoretical skills to lead and educate people in outdoor environments while deepening understanding of human relationships with nature. You’ll complete extensive fieldwork on the Sunshine Coast region, develop safe outdoor leadership capability, and tailor your studies through electives and a major. Majors include Health and Physical Education or Marine Science, supporting diverse pathways in recreation and environmental practice at bachelor level.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles that combine outdoor leadership, education and environmental engagement. Career pathways include adventure or ecotourism guiding, environmental interpretation, outdoor guiding, outdoor recreation officer roles, and coaching positions. The degree also supports work in nature-based tourism, community recreation, conservation-focused visitor experiences and related organisations that promote active lifestyles and connection to the outdoors at bachelor level. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
