About the course
Pharmacology and Toxicology explores how medicines and other chemicals act in the body and how this knowledge is used to prevent and treat disease. You’ll study drug actions, adverse effects and toxicology concepts that support safer and more effective therapies. The major prepares you for scientific and health-related pathways and can be taken as part of an undergraduate science-based degree in pharmacology. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue roles in biomedical and pharmaceutical research, clinical and laboratory science, drug development and safety assessment, toxicology, and regulatory or quality environments. The major also supports pathways into further study and research training in medical and health sciences. Career settings can include universities, hospitals, government agencies and the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in pharmacology and toxicology.
