About the course
The Bachelor of Music at Western Sydney University takes an eclectic, modern approach to repertoire and practice, spanning performance, composition, songwriting, sound design/technologies and musicology. You’ll develop practical musicianship alongside theory, analysis and contextual studies in studios and workshop-style classes, supported by hands-on guidance from music academics and culminating in a major project in music practice. The programme develops design, animation, visual storytelling, and digital media production for creative industries.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue diverse roles across the music and creative industries, combining artistic practice with technical and critical skills. Career directions may include music performance, composition and songwriting, audio engineering and sound production, multimedia and screen-related music work, and music journalism/critique. Teaching is also a pathway with further study, supported by the broad industry-facing preparation of this Bachelor of Music. Preparing graduates for graphic design, multimedia production, advertising, and creative studio roles.
