About the course
This degree builds skills to apply biological science to real-world challenges in health, agriculture and environmental sustainability. You’ll explore molecular and cellular biology, genetics and microbiology, supported by chemistry, maths and statistics, and develop advanced laboratory and scientific communication capabilities. The program also includes a final-year industrial placement to gain workplace experience. This is an undergraduate biotechnology qualification. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.

Graduates can pursue roles across biotechnology and related science industries, with opportunities in laboratories, research and development, production and field-based work. Career paths may include biochemist, food scientist, forensic biologist, pharmaceutical scientist, reproductive medicine/IVF specialist, or roles in conservation and environmental management.
