About the course
The Bachelor of Music at ANU develops musical artistry at the intersection of performance, composition and recording. What you might learn
You will develop integrated capabilities in music performance, composition and recording practice, supported by studies in aural skills, theory and music analysis. The degree encourages experimentation across styles and contexts, including music’s cultural, political and technological dimensions. Through electives and major study, you refine creative practice, critical listening, and production skills, building the adaptability needed for modern portfolio careers in music.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for varied music industry pathways spanning performance, composition, songwriting and contemporary production/recording. Potential roles include performing musician, composer/creator, producer, recording or audio practitioner, and arts or project roles in festivals, venues and creative organisations. The program’s emphasis on entrepreneurship and broad musicianship supports freelance and portfolio careers, as well as further study and professional development in music-related fields.
Entry requirements
Applicants must meet ANU program-specific academic and any non-academic requirements plus English language requirements. Entry is competitive and meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Indicative minimum admission scores shown are ATAR 80 (or equivalent) and IB 30. Assessment may be based on recent secondary studies, higher education study, VET qualifications (AQF level 5+), or work and life experience pathways, as applicable.
