About the course
Music and Society is an undergraduate course exploring how music is shaped by, and shapes, cultures and communities. You’ll develop critical listening and analytical skills while studying music in its social, historical and cultural contexts. The course supports broad interests across music, arts and media, building a foundation for further study and creative or research-informed work in the performing arts. The programme develops design, animation, visual storytelling, and digital media production for creative industries.
Career outcome
Graduates can apply their skills across creative and theoretical roles where understanding music, culture and society is valued. Career pathways may include work in the arts and cultural sector, cultural history and heritage contexts, and roles within community organisations. The course also provides a platform for further study, supporting careers that combine cultural analysis with practice in the performing arts.
