About the course
This undergraduate specialisation expands technical knowledge from extractive metallurgy to give broader coverage of metallurgical operations across the mining value chain. You’ll examine plant design and operation alongside mining processes, mineral economics, and environmental and social impacts, risks and opportunities. The specialisation also introduces emerging industry trends such as automation, data and AI to support safer, more productive operations in engineering contexts.
Career outcome
Graduates can support metallurgical and mining operations by contributing to plant performance, process improvement and cross-discipline collaboration across the mining value chain. Skills align with roles in metallurgical operations, processing and production support, project and operations coordination, and continuous improvement, with awareness of economics, risk, sustainability and new technologies such as automation and data-driven decision-making in an undergraduate engineering context.
