About the course
Flinders’ Bachelor of Midwifery (Preregistration) prepares you to provide safe, high-quality care across pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. You’ll build strong clinical skills through extensive hands-on placements and learning in modern facilities, with experience across a range of maternity care settings. The degree supports your development for professional practice as an undergraduate midwifery qualification. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue careers as registered midwives delivering antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care in public or private health services. Opportunities include hospital maternity units, midwifery group practice models, and private practice/continuity-of-care services, supporting women/birthing people and families across the childbirth journey. With experience and further study, pathways may extend to endorsed midwife and midwifery education roles in the midwifery profession. Preparing graduates for nursing, allied health, and community care professional registration and graduate roles.
