About the course
This vertical dual degree lets you complete 2 years of tailored pre-medicine study before progressing directly into UQ’s 4-year Doctor of Medicine. The pre-medicine component integrates science and biomedical science with public health, humanities and computer science/IT, aligned to MD graduate attributes and curriculum themes. You then move into clinical learning and increasing responsibilities in later years of the MD. This is an undergraduate-to-MD medicine pathway.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared to progress into the medical internship/residency pathway after completing the MD, with early grounding in biomedical science, public health and clinical reasoning. The program supports development toward patient-facing clinical practice and work in hospitals and health services, with broader foundations relevant to research and healthcare systems. Career direction is primarily as a medical doctor following required postgraduate training. This is a Bachelor-to-MD medicine qualification.
