About the course
UWA’s Mechanical Engineering major prepares you to design, develop, install and maintain machinery and mechanical systems, building strong practical problem-solving skills. You’ll study core mechanical engineering areas such as thermodynamics, fluids, control, sound and vibration, robotics, computer simulation and materials, with an emphasis on improving efficiency and performance in real applications. This is an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering program. The programme combines engineering fundamentals, design projects, and industry-ready technical problem-solving skills.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue careers designing and improving machines, products and industrial systems across sectors such as manufacturing, energy, resources, automation, defence and consulting. Typical roles include mechanical engineer, maintenance/reliability engineer, project engineer, design engineer, systems/controls engineer and robotics or simulation-related positions. Outcomes align to an undergraduate pathway in mechanical engineering. Preparing graduates for graduate engineer, project support, and technical design roles across engineering sectors.
