About the course
The Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours) expands career opportunities and provides preparation for work as a professional mathematician or statistician, as well as a pathway into higher research degrees such as an MPhil or PhD. You complete advanced coursework plus a substantial supervised thesis in mathematics or statistics, building strong skills in problem-solving, modelling, data analysis, probability, logistics and logic. This is an honours-level mathematics and statistics degree.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue analytical and quantitative roles across finance, business and industry, including financial or investment analyst, quantitative trader, risk manager, and business forecaster. The degree also supports careers in modelling and applied statistics such as mathematical modeller, statistician, meteorologist, and transport analyst/modeller, with pathways into education such as mathematics teacher. This is an honours qualification in mathematics and statistics within the sciences.
