About the course
This degree explores the physical and biological nature of oceans, with a strong focus on conservation and environmental management. You’ll build skills in oceanographic and coastal processes, marine biodiversity, governance and management, and learn to use emerging marine-science technologies. Studying at UOW in Wollongong offers access to the diverse NSW South Coast, providing extensive fieldwork alongside laboratory-based training for a Bachelor-level pathway in marine and environmental science.

Graduates can pursue roles across marine and coastal industries, government and environmental organisations. Typical careers include marine biologist, coastal oceanographer, aquaculture technician/manager, hydrographic surveyor, marine park ranger, environmental advisor, marine policy advisor, restoration consultant, water quality scientist, marine support officer, or research scientist. The Bachelor of Marine Science prepares you for applied marine/environmental work or further study in marine science.
