About the course
Flinders’ Major in Spanish builds practical language fluency and a deep understanding of Hispanic cultures and societies. You’ll develop skills to speak, read and write Spanish using real-life materials, and explore diverse cultural expressions from across the Spanish-speaking world. The major can be taken in beginner or continuing streams and may include opportunities such as placements or study abroad as part of an undergraduate degree in languages or arts. The programme develops classroom practice, curriculum knowledge, and educational psychology for teaching professions.
Career outcome
Spanish proficiency can support careers that involve cross-cultural communication in Australia and internationally. Graduates may pursue work in translation and interpreting pathways, education and language support, tourism and travel, media and community engagement, government and public service, or business roles linked to trade and the Spanish-speaking world. Outcomes depend on your broader degree and electives, with Spanish strengthening employability across global-facing industries at bachelor level.
