About the course

This Japanese double degree major builds strong spoken and written Japanese skills alongside an advanced understanding of Japanese culture. Designed for students in eligible double degrees, it caters for beginners through to advanced learners, using contemporary language-learning technology and cultural awareness activities. The major supports building literacy for study, travel and professional contexts within a Bachelor-level double degree pathway. The programme develops classroom practice, curriculum knowledge, and educational psychology for teaching professions.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue bilingual and Japan-related roles across Australia and internationally. Career paths can include interpreter/translator work, international trade and diplomacy support, tourism and hospitality roles, and customer-facing international services such as aviation. Opportunities may also arise in government and public service, foreign affairs and trade, international media, education, and resource-sector organisations working with Japanese partners, as part of a Bachelor-level double degree.
