About the course
The Indonesian Studies major builds advanced language capability in Bahasa Indonesia alongside an understanding of Indonesia’s culture, history and society. You’ll develop communication skills and intercultural awareness through structured language learning and contextual studies, preparing you to engage confidently with Australia’s near region. This is an undergraduate Indonesian Studies major at The University of Western Australia. The programme develops classroom practice, curriculum knowledge, and educational psychology for teaching professions.
Career outcome
Indonesian language and cultural knowledge can support careers where engagement with Indonesia is important, including government and public policy, international relations, education, tourism, media and business roles in organisations operating across Australia and Southeast Asia. It also provides a strong foundation for further study related to regional studies and languages. This is an undergraduate pathway in English & Modern Languages.
