About the course
This Indigenous Australian Culture major builds understanding to challenge dominant worldviews and prepares you for roles requiring knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity, history and connection to Country. You’ll engage in on-Country experiences and study tours and benefit from Curtin’s Centre for Aboriginal Studies facilities. This is an undergraduate major within a Curtin Arts & Humanities degree. The programme combines disciplinary knowledge, applied learning, and graduate competencies for professional career entry.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue diverse roles across government, the private sector and Indigenous organisations, applying cultural knowledge and competency. Potential roles include Aboriginal support officer/consultant, Indigenous culture consultant, heritage consultant, tourism and travel consultant, curator, and museum officer/consultant; teaching pathways may require extra qualifications. Industries include arts, tourism, regional development, health, mining and energy, education and foreign affairs. This is an undergraduate Arts & Humanities major.
