About the course
This major prepares you to teach Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) with a specialisation in History, building your understanding of the past and how it connects to contemporary issues. You’ll develop skills to help students think critically and analytically, while fostering empathetic understanding of civilisations and society. Study includes lectures, tutorials and practical placements, supported by simulated classroom practice and professional mentoring in Education & Teaching at undergraduate level.

This major supports a pathway to secondary teaching in Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), with a focus on History. Graduates can work in school settings teaching Years 7–10 HASS and History, with preparation relevant to senior secondary History for Year 11–12 ATAR. The emphasis on practical placements, classroom management and applied teaching skills helps prepare you for employment in secondary education contexts, aligned to undergraduate Education & Teaching study.
