About the course

The History major explores how societies experienced the past and how those experiences shape today’s world. You’ll examine forces such as nationalism, democracy, conflict and war, and gender and sexuality, while building strong skills in analysing and interpreting evidence. The major is studied within eligible degrees such as the Bachelor of Arts and selected double degrees at Curtin University. The programme combines disciplinary knowledge, applied learning, and graduate competencies for professional career entry.

Career outcome

This major develops research and critical analysis skills used to interpret evidence and explain political, social and environmental change. Graduates may work as historians, research officers, archivists, policy advisers, heritage consultants, data managers or museum curators, and can also pursue teaching with further study. Typical employers include government, NGOs, defence and security, education, consulting, tourism, and media and creative industries. Preparing graduates for graduate employment, professional traineeships, and further postgraduate study.
