About the course
UQ’s Bachelor of Health Sciences builds a broad understanding of human health from biomedical science through to population health and policy. Designed with industry input, you choose a core specialisation in clinical health, nutrition or public health while keeping flexibility to shape clinical or non-clinical pathways. It can also support progression to postgraduate clinical programs (subject to entry requirements) in health sciences at bachelor level. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles supporting health promotion, public health program planning and delivery, policy and service improvement across government, hospitals, NGOs and community health organisations. The degree also provides a foundation for further study in areas such as public health and, where eligibility is met, transition into clinical postgraduate pathways. Career directions align with health systems, prevention, and population wellbeing from a bachelor-level health sciences qualification.
