About the course

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre) is an intensive, studio-based program for emerging actors and theatre-makers. You develop your own artistic voice while building expertise across contemporary theatre practice, including acting, devising, writing, dramaturgy and directing. The course emphasises collaboration with other VCA disciplines and includes opportunities such as residencies, field trips and study tours for industry readiness in theatre practice. The programme develops design, animation, visual storytelling, and digital media production for creative industries.

What you might learn

Students build a command of core performance and theatre-making skills including body, voice, movement, acting, devising and collaboration. The course develops the ability to create new work from diverse sources and stimuli, consolidate a professional working methodology as both performer and theatre maker, and practise ensemble-based approaches to making theatre. It also supports industry readiness through collaborative projects and immersive experiences such as tours or residency work.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue careers as professional theatre performers and independent theatre-makers, including acting, devising and creating original work for stage and related media. The skills developed can also support work in community arts and education, and contribute to creative roles across film, television, radio and new media through collaborative and self-produced projects. This bachelor degree prepares emerging artists for professional practice in theatre and performance. Preparing graduates for graphic design, multimedia production, advertising, and creative studio roles.

Range of criteria used for selection. English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0).
