About the course

This major in the Bachelor of Science builds strong foundations in zoology, botany, ecology and genetics, focusing on how living systems respond to and influence environmental change. You’ll develop field-based environmental monitoring skills alongside laboratory and computing capabilities, plus experimental design, statistics, and professional communication. A final-year capstone and work-integrated learning help you apply your knowledge to real environmental problems as an undergraduate environmental science specialisation.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for roles addressing ecological impacts from urban development and industry, including biodiversity monitoring, habitat restoration and ecological impact assessment. Career pathways include environmental biologist, ecologist, conservation consultant, mine restoration consultant, natural resource manager, remediated lands consultant and sustainability consultant. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
