About the course
This major examines how meaning and values circulate in society through texts, cultural conventions and social practices. You’ll analyse contemporary cultural texts across literature, film, and digital and social media, building creative and critical thinking alongside research and writing skills. You’ll also explore how societies have been shaped over time and how cultural understanding can support positive social change within a Bachelor of Arts context. The programme develops classroom practice, curriculum knowledge, and educational psychology for teaching professions.
Career outcome
Graduates can use their understanding of language, texts and culture in roles that require strong analysis and communication. Career directions include media and communications, journalism, creative writing, arts and cultural organisations, and research support roles. Typical job titles may include arts administrator, copywriter/writer, conservator and researcher, with opportunities across education and government.
