About the course

This pre-major stream (Engineering Foundation Year) is the first-year pathway into Curtin’s Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). It builds core engineering capabilities in mathematical modelling, computer programming and structured problem-solving, while introducing global and local engineering challenges. The stream also emphasises Indigenous STEM perspectives and sustainability principles. After completion, you choose an engineering discipline and meet prerequisites for later specialisations within Engineering – Other at bachelor level.

Career outcome

Completing the Engineering Foundation Year prepares you to progress into the second year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and select a discipline area. It supports development of core technical and analytical skills used across engineering industries, including modelling, programming and problem solving for real-world challenges with sustainability awareness. Career pathways depend on the engineering discipline chosen after this pre-major stream within a bachelor-level Engineering – Other qualification.
