About the course
UNSW’s Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Nuclear Engineering) develops engineering fundamentals with specialist knowledge for nuclear technologies and radiation applications. You’ll study core engineering plus nuclear science, safety and systems relevant to power, medicine, industry and research. The degree includes an honours year and prepares graduates for technical problem-solving in complex, regulated environments in engineering. The programme combines engineering fundamentals, design projects, and industry-ready technical problem-solving skills.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles across the nuclear and radiation sector, including reactor and nuclear systems engineering, radiation protection and safety, nuclear fuel-cycle support, and engineering in medical imaging/radiotherapy and industrial radiography. Opportunities also exist in energy organisations, regulators, defence, research facilities and consultancies, working on safety cases, compliance, operations and technology development in nuclear engineering. Preparing graduates for graduate engineer, project support, and technical design roles across engineering sectors.
