About the course
This five-year double degree combines Materials Science & Engineering with Engineering Science, building strong engineering fundamentals alongside advanced knowledge of material structure, processing and performance. You’ll develop skills to design and select materials for real-world applications and work across interdisciplinary engineering contexts. Graduates complete a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in engineering, with a specialised focus in materials and engineering science.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue careers where materials selection and engineering analysis are critical, including advanced manufacturing, energy and renewables, aerospace, transport, biomedical devices and mining/resources. Typical roles include materials engineer, failure/forensic engineer, process or production engineer, R&D engineer, quality and reliability engineer, and product development engineer. Career pathways align with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Materials Science & Engineering and Engineering Science.
