About the course
This Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Bioinformatics) combines engineering design with computing and biological data analysis to develop solutions for health, genomics and life-science applications. You’ll build foundations in engineering and programming, then specialise in bioinformatics methods for analysing complex biological datasets and developing tools and systems. Graduates complete an honours-level engineering qualification in bioinformatics. The programme combines engineering fundamentals, design projects, and industry-ready technical problem-solving skills.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles applying computational and engineering approaches to biological and medical data, such as bioinformatics engineer, data analyst (genomics/health), software or systems engineer in life sciences, and research or laboratory informatics support. Opportunities exist in biotech and pharma, hospitals and medical research institutes, genomics services, and health/technology companies. Career pathways align with an honours-level engineering degree in bioinformatics.
